New Year Celebration: Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed Commends Staff, Calls For Strategic Partnership In The New Year
As the year 2024 winds down to the end, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Shehu Mohammed has commended the staff for their commitment to the campaign for safer road environment which led to the outstanding successes recorded in the outgoing year. He called for strategic partnership with relevant stakeholders in the joint campaign for sustained aggression against the menace of road traffic crashes in the country.
Corps Marshal Shehu in his new year message further noted with satisfaction the high performances by the staff in the outgoing year and gave assurances that Management is committed to enunciating welfare policies that could boost their morals for sustained productivity and improved service delivery to the people. While praying for a more successful new year for all staff and Nigerians at large, the Corps Marshal enjoined everyone to be prepared for the tasks ahead by joining hands to tackle the menace of road traffic crashes with greater aggression in 2025.
The Corps Marshal expressed his Management’s appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his morale and logistics support for the FRSC which he said, created the enabling environment that made the successes recorded by the Corps in the outgoing year possible. He however, appeals to the strategic stakeholders to continue to rally support for the FRSC, saying road safety is a shared responsibility which no single organization, individual or government agencies can tackle effectively alone.
While recalling some of the challenges encountered by the Corps in the outgoing year to include fatal crashes recorded in parts of the country, resulting in loss of many lives and valuable property and failure of some drivers to observe some basic traffic rules and regulations as well as violence against personnel of the Corps in parts of the country, the Corps Marshal restated his commitment to measures that could address such challenges in the new year. According to him, beliefs that make people to ignore the basic traffic rules and regulations and penchant for showing militant behaviours towards the personnel of the corps would not be condoned in the new year.
“We have said it several times that road traffic crashes don’t just happen, they are caused and can be averted. That’s why we elevated our public enlightenment programs this year to town hall meetings for conversation with cross sections of the people and strengthened the powers of the passengers to talk to drivers whenever they noticed something going wrong in any vehicles they are in.
“We have also enjoined our operatives to continue to show restraint in the face of provocations through our civil approach to the management of traffic,” the Corps Marshal stated. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed assures Nigerians of the commitment of the FRSC to greater vigilance on the nation’s highways and wishes all greater prosperity
