IGP, Corps Marshal Agree to End Abuse Of Spy Number Plates and Indiscriminate Covering of Vehicle Number Plates
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi and the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu have agreed to begin a strategic operation that will put an end to abuse of SPY number plates and incessant covering of vehicle number plates in the country.
According to the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the decision was reached during a working visit of the Corps Marshal paid to the IGP at the Force Headquarters on Monday.
Speaking during the visit, the Corps Marshal lamented the rate of abuse of SPY number plates, unnecessary covering of vehicle number plates, continuous knockdown of FRSC personnel on duty among others.
He commended the IGP for the existing synergy and intelligence sharing between the two organisations which according to him, has led to the recovery of several stolen vehicles through the instrumentality of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme database of the Corps. He seemed purposeful collaboration in prosecuting errant drivers that knockdown or kill FRSC personnel on duty. He also offered the force unhindered access to all the data base of FRSC , promising to train some police personnel on the easy way to utilise the several data available in the Corps to their benefit
Responding, the IGP appreciated the Corps for the level of cooperation so far and stated that the Nigeria Police Force is always available to any security service that might need its assistance, collaboration or synergy.
He assured the Corps Marshal of the willingness of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with the Corps to stop indiscriminate covering of vehicle number plates, abuse of SPY number plates and prosecute any errant driver that knocks down Operatives of the Corps.
IGP Muhammed Adamu also noted that more strategic initiatives will be deployed to enhance existing collaboration that will ensure swift recovery of stolen vehicles.
