Ghanaian Licensing Authorities Understudies FRSC Processes For Possible Institutional Reforms
In what seems to be a swift move towards entrenching positive reforms in the work place, the Director Ghana Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Mr Kafiu Semevou has visited the Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters to understudy the Corps’ work processes, as well as identify areas of strength for purposeful collaborations in the near future.
Speaking during the visit on Monday, the Director said that the licensing authority is presently undergoing massive restructuring and has been on the lookout for organizations (sister agencies in road transport regulations) within the West African subregion to understudy their work processes.
“After due and diligent research into the best organisation that meets our restructuring needs, FRSC was choosing for the study and that’s why we have come to Nigeria.
Part of the restructuring which necessitated the facility tour is to understudy the entire processes that lead to issuance of commercial drivers license to motorists.”
On his part, the Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu welcomed them to FRSC Headquarters noting that Nigeria and Ghana share so many similarities even in languages.
He stated that FRSC, apart from being the lead agency in road safety administration is also ISO certified. As such, the Corps is the right destination for such understudy.
According to Biu, the role of the Corps is to set standards and regulate the processes involved in drivers license issuance. We design and produce the drivers license, while the States through their Board of Internal Revenues issue to applicants.
While assuring him of the Corps’ readiness to assist anywhere necessary, the Corps Marshal also informed him of the 4 FRSC training schools and encouraged the delegates to key into the institutions for drivers training and certification.
