FRSC OFFICERS UNDERGO COURSE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT IN USA

In the continuing efforts of the management of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to build staff capacity for the sustenance of the organization’s lead agency status for road traffic management and administration in the country, four officers of the Corps are currently undergoing one week course in law enforcement at the California Highway Patrol Academy, USA.

The program which is being organized under the auspices of the United States government and California National Guard is fully sponsored by the government of United States of America (USA). It will enable participants to familiarize themselves with the doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures of the California Army National Guard, Military Police, California Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies in the state.

According to the letter conveying the course information to the participating officers, “part of the activities for the course, would be tours, briefings and demonstrations”.

“Agencies to be visited during the course include: 270th Military Police Company of California National Guard, the California Highway Patrol Academy Headquarters, Operations Centre, Aviation and State Capital Guard”, it further stated.

The four participating senior Officers comprising of two males and two females were selected based on their impressive performances in their respective places of assignment. They are: Jonas Agwu of Lagos state sector command, Aderonke Daniel of Osun State; Fumbi Olawoyin of Ondo and Mary Wakawa of Taraba States respectively. They are expected to be exposed to modern techniques in road traffic management and administration which are in line with the ongoing capacity building in the Corps.

Speaking on behalf of the participants before departing the country, Jonas Agwu expressed appreciation to the “management of FRSC under Chidoka for attracting this high profile overseas training opportunity for us as members of the Corps”.

“We all feel great about this opportunity, which will enable us relate with personnel from other agencies who are engaged in modern techniques of law enforcement and traffic administration. It is a wonderful opportunity; we all cherish it very much and believe it would be sustained in the Corps”, he further stated.

Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Osita Chidoka in his reaction, assured all officers and men of the Corps that “efforts are continuously being made to create opportunities for capacity building, in the management’s desire to develop the capacity of all staff”. He therefore enjoined them to “remain committed to their duties”.
