FRSC CERTIFIES 208 DRIVING SCHOOLS

In fulfilment of its statutory mandate to regulate the establishment and registration of private and government- owned driving school across the country, the Federal Road Safety Corps has formally certified about 208 driving school Operators to train drivers on the rules and regulations governing the use of the roads.

Speaking during the presentation of certificates to qualified Operators, the Assistant Corps Marshal, Training, Standards and Certification, Baffa Daneji who represented the FRSC Corps Marshal and chief Executive, stated that the certification was part of programme initiated by the Corps’ Driving Schools Standardization programme which sets out to ensure that order and sanity was restored in the operations of driving schools in Nigeria,

The Corps Marshal added that the certification process involves the use of some criteria such as driving school buildings inspection, licensed instructors and demonstrators, simulator and suitable vehicle with dual control to be considered before a driving school gets full certification.

Similarly, the Corps Marshal said that out of 334 Operators who applied, 334 were assessed while 208 Operators scaled through the certification process in line with provisions of Section 5(f) of the FRSC Act 2007 and Section 20 of the National Road Traffic Regulations 2007.

Part of the certification programme is the continuous monitoring and regular evaluation of driving schools to ensure that prescribed standards are not compromised
